About Us

Voices in Paradise is an initiative run by the Gold Coast Barbershop Harmony Club (The Blenders), a non-profit organisation in the field of a cappella singing that has a history of providing community work and youth development programs for over 25 years.  Voices in Paradise offers an annual youth workshop with professional education and training by internationally renowned a cappella groups and local coaches.  Participants will also experience the thrill of performing live in front of a large audiences alongside a cappella champions and local Gold Coast groups.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide professional education to young men and women on the Gold Coast who want to learn how to sing a cappella.  Participants will receive quality coaching and training by top singers in the a cappella world and experience the exhilaration of performing in front of a live audience.  Our aim is to share the joy of harmony singing with the youth in our community in order to enrich their lives through singing.

Voices in paradise 2014 - Saturday 24th May 2014 - With the Musical Island Boys and Ginger & Tonic

The Blenders & Griffith University is hosting a large scale youth a cappella workshop day on Saturday 24th May 2014 on the Gold Coast.  The educators for the day will be the world renowned a cappella quartet Musical Island Boys from New Zealand who are the current international silver medallists and Australias own female quartet Ginger & Tonic from Melbourne who places 1st in SingFest 2012.  This event is not to be missed by young singers and is open to all high school and university age male and female students under the age of 30 (participants do not need to be in school or uni to register).  The official arranger of Voices in Paradise is the Internationally acclaimed a cappella arranger Deke Sharon.  Deke was the music arranger of popular a cappella movie Pitch Perfect and is the producer of the SingOff.  Voices In Paradise Musical Director Jonathan Albertini and Deke have chosen a few modern popular songs from Dekes arrangement collection especially for the singers of Voices in Paradise.

This is a day-long event that will involve workshops and training during the day by the Musical Island Boys and Ginger & Tonic followed by a concert at night.  The students will be performing their songs in concert alongside the Musical Island boys, Ginger & Tonic, The Blenders and other popular a cappella acts.
